Harry Small Reporter

One of our pupils, Harry Small, entered a competition to be a reporter for the Sports Personality of the Year, held in Leeds last Sunday.  For the competition he had to explain why he should be a reporter in no more than 150 words.  Harry'€™s entrance was so good that he was selected.  He met a range of sports personalities on the Sunday afternoon at Leeds Civic Hall and was given the opportunity to interview some.  Congratulations and well done Harry.

Girls under 11's football team

On Wednesday 25th June the Under 11's Girl's Football team, took part in the St Bart's Cup at John Charles Sport Centre. There were 40 teams competing and the Kerr Mackie team were in Group 3 of 8. We won our first game 3-0 and went on to win 3 out of 4 games, including one game 5-0. We came top of group 3 and in the second round played Oakwood and won 3-0 to get into the Quarter finals. In the Quarter finals we played St Margaret's Church of England, Horsforth and unfortunately lost 2-0.

The girls played very well and hopefully will continue their success next year.

Roundhay Primary Schools Fun Run

20140607 112150-1 800x684 640x54720140607 110750 600x800On Saturday 7th June, the annual Roundhay Primary Schools Fun Run took place.  The atmosphere was fantastic and the children (and parents) did us all proud, particularly the younger children running the 5k in muddy conditions.

As last year Kerr Mackie punched well above its weight with 3 out of the first 5 boys and 2 of the first five girls.  Given that 9 schools participate that is quite fantastic.  Statistically you would expect 1 pupil to finish in the top 10 places, we had 5!  Well done to the top five finishers below:

Tom Whelan - 2nd boy
Zoe Hunter - 3rd girl

George Sutcliffe - 3rd boy

Mia Riches - 5th girl

Daniel Wilson – 5th boy
