Kerr Mackie Primary School was opened in September 1992. It is housed in modern, purpose built accommodation and stands on what was formerly the hockey pitch of Roundhay School. The school is named after Kerr Mackie, the former head teacher of Roundhay School. We intend it to be a fitting tribute to him, with high academic and personal standards of which he would have been proud. We have close links with Roundhay High School, including joint curriculum projects, access to their grounds and facilities as well as placements for their students in our school. It is a partnership which we value highly.
The building has undergone several improvements since it was opened. Most recently we have created three new group rooms for intervention and significantly improved early years and year 5 classrooms.
The playgrounds have been extended and landscaped and we have a nature garden and pond area.
At present there are 472 pupils in total on role aged from 3 to 11, including Nursery children. The nursery takes pupils after their third birthday when they attend either morning or afternoon.
